Pirate game built for Raylibs game jam. Submitted on 12/07/2026

Gameplay guide:

The objective of the game is to kill Blackbeard.

Initially, when he is within 40 tiles of you, he will run away, but when he is within 10 tiles of you he will turn and fight. The algorithm for him running away, causes him to take a tangential course from your own course... as such... you should be able to steer him to the left by being behind him on the right and too the right by being behind him on his left... Using this, the intended gameplay is that you steer him into a sandbar or island and beat his ass.

Combat:

There are two options for combat: cannons and boarding. Cannons use "chess" style combat mechanics whilst boarding is a top-down "bullet hell" style mini-game.

Theme note: (Hex+ merge):

I interpreted the theme through a technical lens rather than aesthetic. The map is implemented as a hex map to meet the hex theme. The merge theme is met by "merging" graphics techniques & gameplay designs not commonly used together ie: I use both a low-poly and hex-grid map to represent the world simultaneously.

I also merge two separate gameplay styles, 1 of a strategy game and another of a bullet hell.
